Kaligraphic and photocalligraphic works by Professor Zaichun Yanga
July 26 - August 31, 2018
Venue: Rijeka Museum, Museum Square 1/1
Prominent Chinese calligrapher and photographer, Professor Zaichun Yang, presents the traditional Chinese art of calligraphy at the City Museum, as well as photographs he took during his last stay in Croatia. His education was led by two masters of calligraphy, Songxian Zheng and Qi Gong. Over the years of learning and practice, he integrated different styles: the official script of the Hahn dynasty, engraved inscriptions on the tablets of the northern dynasties, and the semi-cursive and cursive scripts of the eastern Jin and northern Song dynasties. Following the principles of traditional Chinese art, he combines the rich historical heritage with barely noticeable changes, forming a distinctive style. He has written more than 40 monographs and manuals, such as The Composition Art of Semi-Cursive and Cursive Scripts and Pan-Reading of the Art of Calligraphy, to popularize calligraphy, in edition of 15 million copies. In recent years, Yang has been experimenting by combining photography with calligraphy and poetry, creating a series of photocalligraphic works. The exhibition has been set up in collaboration with YZC Art Studio.
