The collection of artefacts includes a variety of materials – art objects sorted by material, a collection of watches and a collection of furniture. Over the years, a collection has been profiled that mainly contains material ranging from the 17th to the second half of the 20th century.
Most often, these are objects designed in the Baroque and Biedermeier eras, but some are examples from the period of Classicism and Historicism, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Modernism.
The most impressive examples are the Art Nouveau dining room furniture owned by Stjepan Car’s Opatija family, the neo-Romanesque study of Captain Emanuel Clemens Dworski, and the Biedermeier chest of drawers and classicist tabernacle belonging to Josip Gorup (a prominent Rijeka entrepreneur from the 20th century).
The Collection of Artefacts contains one of the most complete collections of watches. It contains the standing, fireplace, wall, etc. house clocks that belong to the time from the beginning of the 19th to the second half of the 20th century.
Although only exceptionally these are works by Rijeka watchmakers, many of them were in use in Rijeka and the Littoral. Most of the watches belong to northern provenance, from Central Europe, but the Museum also has specimens of French production and watches from other countries.
