As part of the program marking the Day of Liberation of Rijeka from Fascism, the exhibition “Battle for Rijeka – Rijeka-Trieste operation, April 16 – May 3, 1945” was opened on Korzo on the eve of that day. The outline of the exhibition are photographs on 20 panels from the collection of the City Museum of Rijeka, taken in the final days of World War II, during the operations that later defined the international borders in this part of the continent. The photos show scenes of the wartime destruction of city buildings, especially the port of Rijeka, the forces of the Yugoslav Army in operations within the urban areas of Rijeka and Trieste and in the nearby outlying areas, captured members of Nazi units, events organized in the immediate postwar times, maps showing positions and directions of movement of conflicting military forces and similar. The exhibition was organized by the City of Rijeka, the City Museum of Rijeka, the Association of Anti-Fascist Fighters and Anti-Fascists of the City of Rijeka, and the Association of Anti-Fascist Fighters and Anti-Fascists of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. The authors of the exhibition are Sabrina Žigo from the City Museum of Rijeka and Rajko Samuli Kačić, a retired officer of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia.
