The collection of m/v Galeb is the most recent collection of the City Museum of Rijeka, formed in 2018. The establishment of the collection is the result of the participation of the City Museum of Rijeka in the renovation project m/v Galeb (Integrated programme “Tourist valorisation of representative monuments of industrial heritage of Rijeka”). M/V Galeb is a cultural asset of the Republic of Croatia, a valuable example of the shipbuilding industry heritage. The different roles she had played give her additional historical importance, which is why she is interesting in many ways. Enriched with a museum display, the ship will become a unique example of presenting cultural heritage from technical, cultural and historical-political aspects. Once completely reconstructed and equipped, the ship should become a component of the Museum.

The collection includes several hundred museum objects that testify to the history of m/v Galeb (objects, photographs, documents, videos – interviews with crew members).

The basis of the collection is the preserved ship’s inventory (ship’s design and documentation archive, preserved ship’s electronic equipment, ship’s tools, navigation charts, etc.). The items have been collected through acquisition and donations.
The most outstanding donation is the legacy of Miodrag Šepić, born in Rukavac, commander of the Galeb from 1965 to 1972. This valuable donation consists of personal belongings, officer uniforms, documents, photo albums, recognitions and decorations, and log-book entries.
