Not even the Night of the Museums can miss the story of the torpedo, the world-famous invention that set out on a journey from the town on Rječina. In order to bring the story of this invention closer to visitors, in the Night of the Museums 2020 the City Museum of Rijeka is organizing a visit to the permanent exhibition “Rijeka Torpedo – the First in the World” in the railway warehouse at the Žabica Square 4. The exhibition does not lack news, since late in 2019 it acquired some new and restored objects. We are also preparing a small exclusivity, to enable our visitors to see the original designs of a torpedo delivered from Rijeka to Norway in 1875, which are on display only for the occasion. The exhibits can be viewed under expert guidance to be organized at 7 pm and 9 pm. An educational workshop is organized for primary school children. With the occasional sale of museum editions at a discount, visitors will be able to taste the “Torpedo” tea prepared by the Samovar tea shop of Rijeka.

The second part of the programme awaits visitors at the Drenova Homeland Museum. The exhibition “Without Borders” opens at 6 pm, with a screening of a documentary film about the visionary Paul Outlet and a guided tour of the exhibition, as well as a lecture at 7 pm. In addition, there is the presentation of the local history project Topoteka, the entrance to the hidden secrets of the Mundaneum archive, a conversation with the ČAI, and the exhibition “Outlines of the Coming Things”.
